Watery Lane Bridge

There will be a restriction to the navigation while the demolition and reconstruction of Watery Lane bridge is carried out. It may be necessary to introduce short delays at times for reasons of safety, but we will endeavour to keep these to a minimum. British Waterways apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Channelsea and Prescott Channel

The towpaths alongside Channelsea River and Prescott Channel will be closed to facilitate the construction of a new lock and water control structures. Towpath diversions will not be possible due to the lack of practical alternative routes. **Please note that the dates are subject to change**

Towpath Improvement Scheme &Reconstruction of Towpath Washwall

Towpath closure and partial restriction on canal from Eastwood Bridge (Bridge No. 9) in Hanley to Ivy House Bridge (Bridge No. 11) in Northwood, Stoke on Trent due to towpath improvement scheme and reconstruction of towpath washwall. The towpath will be closed for the duration of the works. Maps of the local area will be displayed at the points of towpath closure to facilitate users to choose an alternative route. There will be restrictions on the canal due to the presence of work boats throughout the period of the works, the canal will not be closed at any time. However, boaters may experience some delays when travelling through the works. Banksmen will be present at all times to ensure the proper passage of boaters is facilitated. British Waterways apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Lock and bridge opening hours

**Spring opening hours** (24 March 2008 â€“ 25 May 2008): Monday - Sunday, 8:30am - 5:30pm; **Summer opening hours** (26 May 2008 â€“ 31 August 2008): Monday - Sunday, 8am - 6pm; **Autumn opening hours** (1 September 2008 â€“ 2 November 2008): Monday - Sunday, 8:30am - 5:30pm; **Winter opening hours** (3 November 2008 â€“ 22 March 2009): Monday - Friday, 9am - 4pm. Clachnaharry and Corpach Sea Locks: Locking possible +/- 4 hours of high tide. All locks and bridges operated by British Waterways staff (lunch break 1 hour). All locks and bridges, including sea locks are contactable on VHF Ch74.
