Has anyone fish here in the winter, I have fished here a couple of time in the summer but though it too shallow to be a winter venue

Since our involvement with Aquatels the carp have flourished. At the start the ceiling weight seemed to be around 27/28lb. In 2006 the mirror known as cluster came out at 42lb 2oz, but unfortunately was found dead this year following spawning. Of the other target fish the sergeant common 38lb, the peach common 36lb, the blue ghostie 36lb and a new ghostie made it to just over 30lb which we have named Dave, the Drop Scale Linear came out 30lb 8oz and a new common has come through which made 30lb 2oz christened ‘shoulders’. The fish known as jays common came out this spring at 32lb and add to these a mirror that has never been to the bank, but is sometimes seen with the peach and is of equal size and another ghostie is often seen with the blue ghostie that is around the same size and there is also a bronze coloured ghostie we see around the small island that is in the 35lb bracket. The average size of the carp in Aquatels in the spring and autumn is well into 20lb's and only drops below this figure after spawning. We put this down to two factors. The first is we only control the weed where needed and do not obliterate it as some waters do and the second is bait. The carp in 'aqqies' like a bit of food and since we encouraged anglers to 'put a bit in' weights have rocketed. As we always keep large amounts of weed the carp can be often found in the margins and the majority of captures come within 30 yards of the edge.

Orchid Lakes has a long history and fine reputation for providing carp angling and has a reputation second to none. Last year 117 30's were landed along with hundreds of fish up to 30lbs. All 30lb carp are photographed by myself or one of my bailiffs night or day regardless of the time.

Club Lake - At just under 2 acres, the holds an abundant supply of just about everything including catfish to just under 30lbs. It has been recently stocked with over 2 tons of fish and with 40 pegs it is an ideal venue for match fishing.
