The Little Priest (Petit Pretre) carp fishing lakes are situated in the Champagne Ardennes region of France just a 4 hour drive from Calais.
The lakes date back over 400 years when they were occupied by Monks – hence the name. They were first recorded during the reign of Louis XV by Ceasar-Francois Cassini who produced detailed maps of France which listed Petit Pretre.
Today Petit Pretre consists of 3 main lakes plus a small stock lake set in a mature 52 acre woodland setting offering a quiet and secluded location. The main lake is about 7.5 acres and was excavated in 2007/08 with over 2 ton of common and mirror carp added weighing in at 30 to 50 lbs. The Gun Lake (our 2nd lake) is 5 acres and is being prepared now to be opened in spring 2010. It will also be stocked with a range of carp weighing to 50 lbs.
We can accommodate up to 11 "Drive & Survive" anglers on the 2 lakes making it ideal for exclusive parties of 4, 7 or 11 people. The main lake can accommodate 7 anglers on 11 swims (8 single & 3 double). The Gun Lake can accommodate 4 anglers on 5 swims (3 double & 2 single).

We have excellent on-site facilities which include the Club House / Dining Room with recharging points, kitchen which we use for preparing on-site food and the shower / toilet facilities. All cabins are close to each other and the lakes.

Lastly, we offer great bait packages for the fish and an excellent full board offering for our guests too – so nobody goes hungry.

Forest Lake Carp Fishing offers the ideal carp fishing holiday in France for those hoping to catch big carp. The lake is available for exclusive hire from April to October. The venue, which is British run, can accommodate up to five anglers per week.

The lake contains a good head of carp to 40lb+, including a perfect 32lb linear carp. There's also catfish to around 60lb.

We only rent out the whole lake to one party at a time. This exclusive lake hire policy means that you and your party can indulge in a truly carefree carp fishing holiday.

Accommodation is at the bankside in bivvies, although a fisherman's cabin is also at your disposal to make your stay more comfortable. This includes a modern, english-style toilet and shower, plus a kitchen with fridge, freezer, cooker, microwave, toaster, kettle and the usual pots, pans and cutlery.

We are also able to provide bivvies and other pieces of bulky equipment if required, so you won't need to bring loads of baggage if you choose to 'Fly and Survive' by booking a cheap flight to Bergerac airport. We're less than an hour from Bergerac airport and can pick you up if you want.

If you prefer to 'Drive and Survive' and drive down with your own gear that's okay too. It takes around eight hours to reach us from Calais and around six hours from Le Havre or St Malo.

The lake is located in the midst of farmland at the heart of the Double Forest in the Dordogne region of South West France. This is a truly unspoilt area with abundant wildlife, including wild boar, deer and birds of prey. If you keep your eyes peeled, you may even spot the kingfishers that flash across the lake from time to time.

This is not a 'runs water' with lots of lengthy casting and bait boat action. It's just a small, tranquil, mature lake stocked with big carp and cats where, with a little luck, you may just catch your Personal Best.

Lionheart Carp Fishing Lakes France comprises of two lakes. Le Grand et Le Petit. The dimension of the larger lake is 2-acres, with varying depths of 2ft to 8ft. There is an island of trees which is central, and that is snag-free. The lake contains many types of fresh water fish including a stock of Common Carp and Mirror Carp weighing up to 40lbs. In addition, there are also Pike, Zander, Roach, Dace, Perch but NO POISSON CHATS! The smaller fishings lakes dimension is just less than 1 acre. This lake has been drained and cleared of snags and fish, and will be stocked with ornamental fish such as Golden Orf, Koi Carp, Golden Tench and small Common Carp & Mirror Carp. This fishing lake is designed to ‘catch’ all our younger avid Carp Anglers and would be perfect for children to learn to fish, and could also provide some unusual fishing fun for adults staying at Lionheart Carp Lakes France.
